…. and the winner is: Sweden! Congratulations!
Once again the Swedish Bombina choir “Mölle Tenors” won the 2. European Bombina Song Contest. The domination of the Swedish choir in this competition reminds us of the time when ABBA was participating in the Eurovision song contest. With a traditional arrangement the three Mölle tenors convinced 82% (!) of over 1.400 web page visitors to vote for them. Congratulations to Sweden!
With a remarkable 8 % voting by the web-audience the “National Bombina choir of Latvia” assured the second position in the Bombina Song-Contest. Last time late snow frustrated the Latvian fire-bellied toads. This time warm spring started just at the days before the Song-Contest. Probably due to this perfect timing the Bombina males sang with strong emotional fervency.
A big “Thank you” from the Stiftung Naturschutz Schleswig-Holstein goes to the local “concert managers” in Denmark: Lars Briggs, Marzenna Rasmussen, Niels Damm; in Latvia: Mihails Pupins and Kaare Fog and in Sweden: Maria Andrén and Claes Andrén. With their engagement several nature conservation measures were carried out within the LIFE-Bombina project. These activities laid the basis for strong Bombina choirs in the participating countries and therefore for the European Bombina Song Contest.
